PDX FireMist

By using PDX technology fires can be extinguished using only 1% of the water used by conventional sprinkler systems. This dramatically reduces water damage and opens up the possibility of fighting fires in tricky places like passenger airplanes.

The PDX FireMist:

  • Superior fire suppression capabilities
  • Uses less water than traditional systems & reduces water damage
  • Can be implemented in challenging environments
  • Has the ability to scrub smoke from the air
  • Improves survivability during fires due to the cooling effect of the mist
  • The PDX FireMist turns each litre of water used into a highly turbulent mist with a surface area of 4000m2 - over 30 times the surface area of a conventional sprinkler system output

AQUASONIC

The PDX FireMist product has been licensed to our strategic partners ANSUL (part of the Tyco group) who launched their PDX developed product AQUASONIC in summer 2008 at the National Fire Protection Association World Safety Conference in Las Vegas, USA.

The AQUASONIC water-atomising system produces a higher volume of smaller water droplets than traditional water-mist solutions and projects them further across the combustion zone than was possible with previous technology.

Droplet size is extremely important for fire suppression: the smaller the droplet size, the more surface area that is available to absorb heat, and, ultimately, extinguish the fire. The key to the effectiveness of the AQUASONIC system is its ability to create a high volume of amazing small droplets from very little water. When atomised by the AQUASONIC system, just three gallons of water can cover a surface area of 88,800 square feet (8,250 square metres) - the equivalent area of a US Olympic sized soccer field - in one minute.

ANSUL QUOTE

"The launch of the AQUASONIC fire suppression system is an important business achievement for ANSUL. It enables us to expand our product offering, serve up additional value to our distributors and customers, and extend our leadership position in the fire suppression market."
